Human Trafficking

What Is Human Trafficking?

Human trafficking is a form of exploitation in which a person is forced, coerced, or manipulated into labor, services, or commercial sex. Trafficking can occur through threats, psychological pressure, physical harm, fraud, debt bondage, or taking advantage of someone’s vulnerabilities such as poverty, housing insecurity, trauma, or lack of support.

It is important to know that trafficking does not require crossing borders and can happen in any community. Survivors often experience significant emotional, psychological, and physical impacts, including anxiety, depression, dissociation, shame, fear, and difficulty trusting others. Healing is possible with the right support, safety, and trauma-informed care.

Therapy for Human Trafficking Survivors at Mood Resilience Therapy

At Mood Resilience Therapy, we provide a safe, confidential, and judgment-free space for survivors of human trafficking to begin healing. Our clinicians are trained in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and empowerment-based approaches that honor each person’s autonomy and lived experience.

Our therapy services may include:

  • Individual trauma therapy using evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, somatic approaches, CBT, or grounding/stabilization work
  • Support with emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms
  • Safety planning and stabilization for clients actively navigating unsafe situations
  • Psychoeducation to help survivors understand trauma responses and reclaim a sense of control
  • Strength-based and empowerment-focused care to restore dignity, voice, and self-agency
  • Collaboration with community resources when appropriate and with consent

We meet clients where they are, respecting readiness, pace, and personal goals for healing.
